Do you always need to wet set

Wet setting is one of the steps that is given to "finish" a yarn. But is it really necessary? Not always. Although I feel it's a good practice, it does depend on the fiber, the yarn and the use. Oohh, that's another good topic, the fiber, the yarn and the use. But more on that later.

Yarn does not always need to have the twist set. By leaving it alone on the bobbin, the twist will actually begin to settle. Skein it, and it settle as well. For me, the main purpose of wet setting is to full the yarn, or bring out the halo, and that might be something I don't want to do before I knit or weave.
